AC Milan 2 Manchester United 3

Champions League (last 16) First leg 16/02/2010

Manchester United take a 3-2 lead to Old Trafford for the second leg in three weeks time thanks to another awesome display by Wayne Rooney.

AC Milan took the lead after only 3 minutes. Former United star David Beckham's free kick was only partially cleared by a nervous United defence and Ronaldinho's shot took a wicked deflection to beat the helpless keeper, Van Der Sar.

Manchester United equalised in the 36th minute with a Paul Scholes goal.

After the break Wayne Rooney took the game by the scruff of the neck when he headed his first on 66 minutes. Eight minutes later he added his second and United's third with another superbly directed header from a Darren Fletcher cross. AC Milan pulled a goal back before the end but Manchester United must surely be favourites to reach the quarter finals.
